Who’s getting excited about the Cow Town ThrowDown?
The event is only a couple days away. In order to prepare, we want to get you some more information to help you get ready. This email is packed with tons of information but there are some important details and several links to additional information you will need, so please read the email completely and carefully.
Driving and Parking Instructions

A map for the loading and unloading zones is attached to this email. Please note the traffic flow for buses, trailers or vehicles with robots. The map also shows the available bus, trailer and car parking areas that will be available. Please be sure to not use the main parking lot for trailers and bus parking.
Below is the schedule of events. Please note that all teams must check in at the registration table no later than 5:30 pm. We cannot generate the match schedule until all teams have checked in. If you are running late and will not arrive by 5:30 pm, you must contact Crystal Durgan at 816-289-1790.
Please be aware that you should not arrive in the parking lot at the event until after 3:30 pm due to regular school release traffic before that time.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27th
3:45 p.m. Doors open for teams
3:45 - 5:30 p.m. Team registration, pits open for set-up
4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Practice rounds (sign up at the field)
Note: All teams must participate in at least one practice round to ensure field connectivity.
5:30 p.m. Coaches/Drivers Meeting
6:00 – 9:30 p.m. Qualification Rounds
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28ST
7:00 a.m. Doors open to teams and the public
8:15 a.m. Opening ceremony (all participants requested)
8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Qualification Rounds
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. FLL Scrimmage (downstairs)
12:15 p.m. Alliance Selection
12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Break
1:00 p.m. Elimination rounds begin
5:00 p.m. Estimated end of competition
On Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, there will be an FLL Scrimmage taking place downstairs. We encourage participants to visit these matches and show support to these teams.
Waiver and Release Form
Each participant (students and adults) at the Cow Town ThrowDown must complete a release form. The form can be accessed via the following link. Click Here Forms should be brought with you and submitted at the registration table. A very limited amount of blank forms will be available, so please plan appropriately for participants who are under 18 years of age.
A full service concession stand will be available on Friday from 4:30 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM. For the full list of available items, click here.
There is still time to pre-order pizzas. Click here to order by end of day on Thursday, Oct 26th. Pre-ordered pizzas will be paid for at the registration table and will be delivered to your pit once they are available. We can accept cash, check made out to LSHS Robotics or credit cards.
Saturday breakfast and lunch meal tickets will be available for purchase at the registration table. These are not required but available for your convenience if you wish to pre-pay for your group. The available options for meal tickets are below.
· Breakfast ($4.00 each) - Biscuits & Gravy w/ your choice of coffee or orange juice.
· Lunch Option 1 ($5.00 each) - Choice of bowl of mac and cheese, bowl of chili, uncrustable sandwich or hot dog with a bag of chips and a drink.
· Lunch Option 2 ($6.00 each) - Choice of pulled pork sandwich or chili dog with a bag of chips and a drink.
Teams will be allotted a 9 ft X 9ft pit with a single 110v outlet. Cordless hand tools are recommended as the total current available will be limited. Tables will not be provided in the pits. A pit map for your team’s location will be provided on arrival on Friday.
A machine shop will not be available. There will be a courtesy pit with drill press and band saw that will be on site. Please show your gracious professionalism by sharing tools or parts to teams in need.
Official Steamworks rules will apply for this competition except for a +5 pound allowance for minor modifications. Be sure to visit the event website here for more details about the competition like pit space allowed and alliance selection process.
Get Ready For The Fun
We are very excited that we have 50 FRC and 18 FLL teams attending and are looking forward to an action packed couple of days of good competition. Be sure to bring your gracious professionalism and your team spirit to the event.
